A wonderful set of 10 (8+2) George III Chippendale period carved mahogany dining chairs; the beautifully carved ribbon backs above an upholstered seat and raised on square chamfered legs united by an H-stretcher.
The exuberantly carved ribbon back design is adapted from Thomas Chippendale's famous design for Ribband-back chairs in his Director of 1754.
The set is composed largely of Georgian chairs but the set has been expanded to 10 in the Nineteenth Century.
