A Jacobean Carved Oak Wainscot Armchair

A beautifully carved Seventeenth Century oak wainscot armchair; the original double scrolled cresting carved with scrolling leaves above a back inlaid with a broad banding of dog tooth parquetry in holly and the main panel is carved with a stylised tulip flower; having a later rope seat and raised on turned legs united by beautifully worn stretchers.

The form of this armchair points to a North Yorkshire origin, either from the Leeds area or the Dales. The fluid carving, bands of geometric parquetry inlay and the double scrolled pediment cresting.
