A Pair Of 19th Century Stoneware Garden Urns
A superb pair of mid 19th Century stoneware garden urns raised on their original plinths; the urn decorated with a laurel wreath garland running around the top and with acanthus leaves; raised on a stepped plinth which is decorated with a laurel wreath to each face.
Stamped on each urn J. Stiff and Sons, Lambeth, London.
Provenance
James Stiff started his career working as a mould maker at Doulton's Lambeth factory. In 1843 Stiff started his own factory and from 1845 he is listed as working at 39 High Street, Lambeth. His sons joined the business in 1863.
