Pair of Sheraton Style Mahogany Wine Coolers
A handsome pair of late Nineteenth Century carved mahogany wine coolers in the Sheraton style; the wine coolers are beautifully carved with Neo classical ornament with a guilloche moulding running around the top, then a gadrooned moulding followed by Neo classical swags and an anthemion moulding to the bottom; retaining their originl brass lion mask carrying handles and raised on square block feet. The wine coolers retain their original brass linings.

James Hicks opened his business in 1894 and soon gained Royal Patronage, suppling pieces to King Edward VII and Princess Margaret of Connaught, the Crown Princess of Sweden. The firm drew their inspiration from the finest designers of Georgian England and were known for their high quality carving and use of exotic woods.
