Pair of Georgian Reverse Glass Prints: Painting and Architecture
Painting and Architecture
A pair of Georgian Reverse Glass Print capriccios of artists and architects in mythical Georgian landscapes. Published by John Bowles and Sons, Cornhill.
Presented in the original ebonised fruitwood frames with sanded giltwood slips. Bearing lovely old Georgian labels to the reverse for Samuel Okey, Printseller, in Fleet Street London.
These beautiful Georgian reverse glass prints date to the period when John Bowles was in partnership with his son Carrington Bowles. They had a thriving business trading from the sign of the Black Horse and their catalogues were over 100 pages long.
Samuel Okey was a nephew of John Bowles and emigrated to America in 1771 and set up as a print seller in Rhode Island.
