A Handsome Queen Anne Period Walnut Chest On Stand

This item is sold

Having two short and three long graduated drawers which are quarter veneered and feather banded above a crisp waist moulding and raised on a stand which has a short drawer flanked by a deep drawer to either side; standing on its original well drawn cabriole legs which are carved with a scallop shell and harebell to the knee and terminate in claw and ball feet. Retaining an excellent colour and patina.

This chest on stand is an early example with double cockbead mouldings applied to the carcass. Its superior quality is shown by the crisp carving of the cabriole legs, the careful choice of veneers and the crossbanding of the walnut veneered sides. The handles are first change.
