Georgian Neoclassical Tea Caddy

A rare Georgian tea caddy; the top decorated with a portrait of Hera set withing oak leaves and retaining its original swan neck handle and with further portrait busts including Homer decorating the body of the caddy; raised on the original bracket feet. The caddy opens to reveal two toleware canisters again decorated with portrait busts.

This tea caddy is very unusual and has survived in fantastic condition. The decoration is intended to simulate tortoiseshell set with Neoclassical cameos and this includes the toleware tea canisters.
