George I oak chest on stand
A wonderful George I period oak chest on stand; the cornice carved with a running leaf moulding above two short and three long graduated drawers which have moulded drawer fronts and retain their original solid back plate handles and escutcheons; the base has three further short drawers arranged a central arch. Raised on cabriole legs terminating in square pad feet. This highboy is full of character with a country interpration of Palladian desing in its cornice and the cabinet-maker applying the handles upside down- an original feature. Retaining a good colour and patination.
