Pair of Georgian Mahogany Knife Boxes

A pair of George III Sheraton period mahogany knife boxes; the knife box's lift-up lid is veneered in flame Cuban mahogany with barber's pole stringing and retains the original axe-head handle, the lid opens to reveal a fully fitted interior. The knife box's shaped front centred by an elaborate escutcheon and with carrying handles to either side; raised on the original brass feet.

These knife boxes are very unusual in retaining their original feet and there are traces of silvering on the brassware which is also very rare.
