Chippendale Satinwood Tripod Table

This item is sold

An unusual George III Chippendale period satinwood veneered tripod table; the segment veneered tilt-top crossbanded in kingwood with a harewood cenrtal inlay; having a vase turned stem and raised on scrolling legs. Retaining an excellent colour and patina.

The design for this antique tripod table draws inspiration from drawings for 'claw tables' illustrated in Ince and Mayhew's Universal System of Household Furniture (1762). This antique Chippendale tripod table also has close stylistic similarities to tables supplied by Thomas Chippendale to Harewood House and No.19 Arlington Street, all of which have segmentally veneered tops.
