A superb late 17th Century Edo period Japanese lacquered cabinet; the doors decorated with a stylised landscape garden with herons flying and standing by a lake; these open to reveal an arrangement of drawers decorated with further landscape scenes and retaining their original swan neck handles; raised on a shaped plinth. Retaining its original strapwork hinges and escutcheons which are all gilded and hand engraved. Raised on a Chippendale period stand which is decorated in japanning with flowers and chinnoiserie brackets.
