A Nineteenth Century Decalcomania Glass Vase

£1,450

A charming Nineteenth Century decalcomania glass vase; decorated with chinoiserie figures, dragons and incense burners on an unusual green ground.

Perfect as a decorative object or easily converted into a lamp base.

Decalcomania is a transfer printing technique developed during the Eighteenth Century. The interior of the vase would be covered in wet paint and a design on paper is then pressed against the wet surface. When the paper was removed an image was left behind- transfer printed. This design was then decorated by hand.
