A handsome George III Chippendale period mahogany pie crust tripod table; the well figured tilt-top carved with a pie crust edge above a fluted stem which is crisply carved with acanthus leaves and raised on well drawn cabriole legs which are carved with acanthus to the knee and terminate in bold claw and ball feet.

Pie crust tripod tables are the most desirable occasional tables of the Georgian period. The carving on this table, especially to the stem is particularly fine and highlights the skill and imagination of the best Chippendale cabinet-makers.
