Chippendale period mahogany piecrust tripod table

This item is sold

A handsome George III Chippendale period mahogany piecrust tripod table; the well figured tilt-top with a carved piecrust edge rotates on a bird cage mechanism; raised on a wrythen turned stem and standing on well drawn cabriole legs which are acanthus carved to the knee and terminate in claw and ball feet.

This table is a classic piece of Chippendale period furniture with its crisp piecrust edge to the top, bold carving to the table's stem and generous claw and ball feet. Importantly the tripod table retains a good colour and patination.
