Hepplewhite Furniture

George Hepplewhite (1727-1786) is the most enigmatic of the triumvirate of great furniture designers in the Georgian period. His pattern book The Cabinet-Maker's and Upholsterer's Guide was published posthumously in 1788 and there is no known Georgian furniture made by him. Hepplewhite furniture is the transitional style between Chippendale furniture and Sheraton furniture and marries the solidity of early Georgian furniture with the increasingly elegant designs of the Sheraton period.
