Archduke Charles of Austria, Duke of Teschen (1771-1847) was the most sucessful Austrian general of the Napoleonic Wars. Archduke Charles was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Austrian army in 1806 and had a notable victory over the French at the battle of Aspern-Essling. However he was defeated shortly afterwards by Napoleon at theh Battle of Wagram which effectively ended his career.
