Fireplace Accessories
Fireplaces have been a focal point of an interior throughout history, so people wanted equally decorative accessories to accompany them. Fireplace accessories include andirons, fire irons, bellows, and fire screens, all of which were made in various styles and materials from the 17th to 20th centuries. Metal accessories such as andirons and fire irons were often made in brass or steel, but more luxurious examples were made with silver, gold or bronze. Fire screens were made in metal or wood and were often upholstered with embroidery. Today, antique fire accessories are great conversation pieces and an elegant way to elevate a modern fireplace.
