Chippendale mahogany tea caddy
A handsome George III Chippendale period mahogany tea caddy; the cavetto moulded lid veneered in beautifully figured mahogany inlayed with feather banding and retaining its original brass swan neck handle; the sides of the tea caddy are each inlayed with featherbanding and the front retains its original pierced brass escutcheon; raised on the original brass lion paw feet.
This antique tea caddy is a great example of a Chippendale period tea caddy. The caddy is veneered in beautifully figured mahogany which retains a wonderful colour and patination. This is then inlayed with chequer and barber's pole stringing. The antique box retains its origianl swan neck handle and escutcheon and the tea caddy has a working lock and key.
