Whether you live in a contemporary townhouse or a house in the countryside antique furniture can really add a homely touch to your kitchen. At Reindeer Antiques we have a large supply of antique furniture which is perfect for decorating any type of kitchen. From chopping vegetables, to cooking and washing up, the kitchen is often the busiest room in the house! Therefore it is important to buy hard-wearing, utilitarian and practical antique furniture for your kitchen.

One of the most common problems in the kichen is having enough storage and surface-top space. Antique buffets and antique dressers offer large amounts of both.

Antique buffets such as this fine example of a French provinical buffet are reminiscient of rural country kitchens and can add nostalgia to your modern day interior. This is a late 18th Century French provincial chestnut and burr elm buffet, with a shaped apron and raised on cabriole legs which terminate in French scroll toes. It has a huge surface area which is hard-wearing and a pair of frieze drawers above a pair of cupboard doors which are constructed from beautifully figured burr elm; these are perfect for storing pots, crockery, cultery or food.

Antique dressers can be divided into two categories: dresser and racks and dress bases. This antique oak dresser and rack was made in North Wales, the canopied rack and cupboard like arrangement of drawers particularly point to this region and are useful for displaying crockery and pots. Interestingly this antique dresser retains its original maker's marks- to the right and rear of the rack: R, M and D are incised on in quite a rustic manner.

Here we have an example of a good George II oak dresser base: the well figured top above three frieze drawers are crossbanded in oak and retain their original solid backplate handles. This antique dresser base has a lovely patina and offers a large surface area, drawers and plently of space underneath for extra storage.

Finally, as breakfast is the most important meal of the day why not cook up the perfect one with this early 19th Century copper egg timer. We also have a lovely Georgian mahogany breakfast table which is perfect for a standard sized kitchen. Or if you are feeling particularly generous you can alway bring your loved ones breakfast in bed with this fine antique Sheraton oval tray in satinwood!

If you are planning on redecorating your kitchen please do consider a piece of antique furniture to add that homely touch!
