This month I am pleased to highlight some beautiful pieces of early Georgian furniture.

This period saw the introduction of mahogany as the material of choice for English and Irish cabinet-makers and the creation of some of the finest pieces of carved English and Irish furniture.

The Irish George II settee is an exceptional example of carved furnitue. The lion mask carving to the arms is beautifully free flowing and the Green man carving to the legs is idiosyncratically Irish.

The Georgian side table is a good example of early Georgian furniture in its uncluttered design and importantly has survived in excellent condition with its original handle and a beautiful patination. It is an extremely useful piece of furniture because it is so shallow from front to back.

I hope you enjoyed my advert in Country Life this week and if you wish to view my recently updated website it can be viewed here.
