Reindeer Antiques Ltd

This month I am delighted to highlight some beautifully carved and inlaid pieces of Regency furniture.

The beautiful centre table illustrated below emodies everything that I look for in a piece of furniture: it has a superb colour and patination and the table's sophisticated design is influenced by one of the Regency period's most important designers, George Bullock.

The bracket is a brilliant piece of high Regency design and is crisply carved from Cuban mahogany. The carving of the drum table is also amazingly crisp and fluid and this is the first drum table I have discovered with a marble top.

All of these pieces are on display at my showrooms on Kensington Church Street or they can be viewed on my website www.reindeerantiques.co.uk

1815

Height: 28.75" (73cm)

Diameter: 47.5" (120.75cm)

A Regency period rosewood veneered and marquetry inlaid centre table; the beautifully figured tilt-top inlaid with boxwood marquetry above a tapering stem inlaid with scrolling marquetry  raised on a triform base which stands on crisply carved lion paw feet.

This table's marquetry is heavily influenced by the designs of George Bullock whose drawings were disseminated after his death as the Wilkinson tracings. The marquetry detailing and crisp carving to the feet show this table to be of the finest quality and importantly this table has retained an attractived faded colour and patination.
