An elegant George III Adam period mahogany armchair; the hooped back and splat carved with harebells above elegantly outscrolling arms; having a stuffover seat and raised on stop fluted square tapering legs terminating in blockfeet.
The design of this antique Georgian armchair is typical of the Adam period with its Neo-classical design and motifs. The lyre shaped back and use of carved harebells clearly reflect the influence of Robert Adam's taste for elegant Neo-classical ornament.
