An elegant George III Adam period mahogany demi-lune console table; the console table's well figured fiddle back mahogany top above a fluted frieze centred by an entablature decorated with a crisply carved Neo-classical urn and raised on elegant fluted legs.
The design of this console table is typical of the finest pieces of Adam furniture. The Neo-classical ornament of a central urn to the frieze, paterae and fluting to the frieze and legs is all typical of the vocabulary used by Robert Adam in his designs. The console table's refined elegance and handsome proportions are also typical of the furniture Adam designed to grace his interiors.
This consle table was almost certainly ensuite with a side table formerly in the collection of F. Behrens, Esq. and illustrated in the Dictionary of English Furniture.
